Wholesome Breakfast Bento for the Kids
This morning, I decided to create a colorful and nutritious breakfast bento for the kids, packed with a delightful mix of flavors and textures. It’s not just about filling their tummies but also about ensuring they start the day with wholesome, balanced nutrition.
What’s Inside the Bento?
Egg Mayonnaise Sandwich
A classic favorite, the egg mayonnaise sandwich is creamy, comforting, and rich in protein. The soft bread and smooth filling make it easy to eat, perfect for kids who might be in a rush or prefer simpler flavors.
Steamed Red Bean Bun
Red bean buns are a sweet and fluffy treat that adds a delightful contrast to the savory elements of the bento. The subtle sweetness of the red bean paste is comforting and pairs beautifully with the soft, steamed bun.
Baked Beans
To add a touch of warmth and a savory punch, I included baked beans. They’re not just delicious but also packed with fiber and protein, which are essential for growing kids.
Homemade Soymilk
The highlight of today’s bento is the homemade soymilk. This isn’t your regular soymilk; it’s a nutrient-packed version made from a blend of soybeans, black beans, red beans, barley, green beans, black sugar, and sweet potato. Each ingredient contributes its unique health benefits:
Soybeans, Black Beans, Red Beans, and Green Beans are rich in protein, fiber, and essential vitamins.
Barley adds a creamy texture while being a great source of beta-glucan, which supports heart health.
Black Sugar offers a natural sweetness with additional minerals.
Sweet Potato provides a gentle sweetness along with a good dose of fiber and vitamins.
This homemade soymilk is not only nourishing but also filling, ensuring the kids stay energized throughout the morning.
Why Bento?
Packing a bento for breakfast is a fantastic way to ensure that the kids get a balanced meal even when mornings are hectic. Each compartment can hold a different food group, making it easier to offer a variety of nutrients in one meal. Plus, the presentation is often more engaging for children, encouraging them to enjoy their food.
Making breakfast bento is a labor of love, but seeing the kids enjoy a meal that’s both tasty and healthy is absolutely worth it. This combination of an egg mayo sandwich, steamed red bean bun, baked beans, and homemade soymilk not only satisfies their taste buds but also fuels their day with the right nutrients.
I hope this inspires you to try making a breakfast bento for your little ones. It’s a simple yet effective way to add a little more love and care to their morning routine.
